McCullough Robertson further boosts east coast talent pool with new Partners

Leading independent law firm McCullough Robertson continues to strengthen its arsenal of east coast talent with the appointments into its Sydney office of Henry Davis York’s former co-head of corporate M&A, partner Ben Mortimer and HDY’s head of the technology practice, partner Matthew McMillan.

The new appointments follow shortly after the partner previously in charge of HDY’s dispute resolution practice, Jason Munstermann and HDY’s head of employment and safety, Scarlet Reid, both leading lawyers and recognised industry experts in their respective fields, joined McCullough Robertson in recent weeks.

Ben specialises in mergers and acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, strategic commercial arrangements, corporate restructures, and complex service and supply arrangements. He is particularly experienced in the financial services sector including as an adviser to leading financial institutions and the Big Four banks.

His sector expertise spans government, financial services, infrastructure and health, acting for both domestic and international clients. Ben has worked closely with a number of New South Wales government agencies.

Matt specialises in technology and communications, IP and privacy/data protection. His expertise includes complex ICT procurement arrangements, large-scale outsourcing and managed services initiatives, systems development and integration projects. He also advises in relation to big data and analytics projects, and data breach and cyber risk issues.

Matt’s clients include a number of leading financial institutions including the Big Four banks, public sector organisations and blue chip corporates across a wide range of industries including government, IT, financial services, energy, transport and infrastructure.

Chairman of Partners Dominic McGann said Ben and Matt would be assets to McCullough Robertson’s Sydney office and the broader firm.

“Ben and Matt have recognised depth of experience in their fields and have worked with clients in the public sector and across a range of industries, which align with our expertise and industry footprints particularly in government, telecommunications media and technology, resources and energy.”

“They have built outstanding reputations by working hand-in-hand with clients and investing in long-term relationships. Their approach aligns to McCullough Robertson’s way of doing business and will be central to the ongoing strategic focus of our practice.”

Mr McGann said the firm was delighted to have four new leading partners joining McCullough Robertson.

“The new partners represent an enormous injection of legal talent and industry knowledge to expand our offering to clients and focus on unlocking opportunities and success together,” McGann said.

“We will continue to invite outstanding leaders in the legal profession to join us as we build a true east coast brand which offers a different national and international platform than our competitors,” he said.
