Slater and Gordon promotes leading Victorian lawyers

Slater and Gordon has announced two of its leading Victorian lawyers have been promoted to Principal Lawyers.

Tracy Madden and Claire Setches have both built unparalleled reputations in their areas of law and are considered two of Victoria’s most experienced lawyers in their areas of law.

Practice Group Leader Margaret Kent congratulated both on their promotion.

“The essential qualities needed to support and represent their clients and their families are compassion and perseverance and both Tracy and Claire have those qualities in spades,” Ms Kent said.

Ms Kent, who has seen the progression of both lawyers, said it was pleasure to watch them do their job with the passion that their clients appreciate and deserve.

“Tracy has always demonstrated great passion and determination to do all she can to support our clients,” Ms Kent said.

“Claire is an empathic and tenacious lawyer and it really does show through in the results she is able to get for her clients.”

Ms Madden, who also deals with matters in Tasmania, started at Slater and Gordon in 1990 as a part-time receptionist, before climbing the legal ranks.

After deciding she wanted to practise law, the mother of two returned to university while working at Slater and Gordon, before doing her Articles with current Practice Group Leader Margaret Kent, whom she works alongside today.

“I really do love my job and I feel really lucky to say that,’’ Ms Madden said.

“I’ve been here almost 30 years and it’s the clients and my colleagues that really make coming to work every day worthwhile.”

Ms Setches started with the firm in 2001. Over the past 15 years, she has represented countless clients, boasting a reputation of delivering a faster and smoother resolution of claims. One claim was resolved in just five days.

“It is rewarding knowing that we are able to help provide some stability for the loved ones of our clients,” Ms Setches said.
